Once again, talented researchers will compete to explain their PhD research in a way that everyone can understand. Arctic Hub is now accepting applications for Paasisavut 2026.
If you dream of taking the stage at Katuaq and sharing your PhD research with the public, now is the time to apply. Applications have just opened for Arctic Hub’s science communication competition for PhD students and recent PhD graduates, Paasisavut 2026. The prize is DKK 50,000.
“Paasisavut is a fantastic way to share research about our country with the public. Everyone at Arctic Hub has been looking forward to opening applications for Paasisavut 2026,” says Head of Secretariat Avijâja Rosing-Olsen.
About Paasisavut
The science communication competition Paasisavut is organized by Arctic Hub.
Arctic Hub is a hub for research in Greenland, established in collaboration between Greenland and Denmark in 2020. The secretariat is based in Nuuk.
The show will take place on 13 November 2026 at Katuaq and will be broadcast live on KNR. Ticket sales have not yet opened.
Paasisavut was held for the first time in 2023, when Nick Duelund from Ilisimatusarfik won the competition.
Arctic Hub will host an information meeting for interested applicants on 16 June.
Finalists will be announced in September 2026.
Five researchers with five minutes
The concept behind Paasisavut is simple: Five researchers compete to communicate their research in a way that everyone can understand — and they only have five minutes to do it. The show will take place at Katuaq on 13 November and will be broadcast live on KNR.
“This is the third time Arctic Hub is organizing Paasisavut, and in previous years we have received an overwhelming number of highly qualified applications. We certainly hope to do so again,” says Avijâja Rosing-Olsen.
To participate in the competition, applicants either must be PhD students or have completed their PhD within the last two years. In addition, their research must be directly related to Greenland, and significant parts of the project must take place in Greenland. Researchers from both Greenland and abroad are welcome to apply.

Fun, moving, and entertaining research
Paasisavut is organized by Arctic Hub every other year. In 2024, Regine Møller, a PhD student at Aalborg University, won the competition. From the stage, she delivered a moving presentation of her research on the people of Isortoq and their perspectives on sustainable development.
“If anyone thinks that research is boring or difficult to understand, they should look forward to Paasisavut 2026. Here, research is entertaining, fun, and deeply moving,” says Avijâja Rosing-Olsen.
