Research in Greenland – who, what, where?

Arctic Hub’s report on research in Greenland

Greenland Research report

Greenland is an epicenter of research, but there has long been a lack of an overview of research activity from, in, and about the country. In Arctic Hub’s report Research in Greenland (2026), we seek to provide some of the answers.

The report provides an overview of research output, academic priorities, international collaboration patterns, and the geographical distribution of research activities in Greenland. It highlights the strong international interest in conducting research in Greenland, including which countries conduct the most research in Greenland and where research activity is most concentrated across the country.

In addition, the report reveals significant differences between research from Greenland and research about Greenland, both in terms of disciplines, fields of study, and topics. We also examine which countries and fields of study are most likely to have local partners. Our hope, therefore, is that this knowledge can help foster a constructive dialogue about the value of research in Greenland and the way forward.
