Project Manager for Arctic Hub

Written by Arctic Hub

We are looking for an engaged Project Manager who wants to help strengthen the role of research in society and develop collaboration between research, government, education, business, and citizens in Greenland.

About the Position

As a Project Manager at Arctic Hub, you will have the opportunity to work closely with some of the most important research and societal agendas in the Arctic and contribute to developing collaborations between local, national, and international stakeholders. At Arctic Hub, we collaborate with everyone from individual researchers and engaged citizens to international research institutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, initiating, and implementing projects and events that strengthen collaboration between research, education, public administration, business, and the public.
  • Taking independent responsibility for project management from idea development to implementation and reporting, including Arctic Hub’s activities under the EU programme Green Growth.
  • Coordinating internal and external administrative tasks and preparing materials for the Head of Secretariat and Board.
  • Representing Arctic Hub at relevant conferences, networks, and meetings – both within Greenland and abroad.
  • Contributing to fundraising efforts and the development of new funding opportunities.

You will be responsible for managing and coordinating Arctic Hub’s activities, including the implementation of projects funded by national and international foundations and programmes. You will, among other things, work with Paasisavut, our science communication competition, Greenland Science Week, and other key Arctic Hub initiatives. Tasks and responsibilities may be adjusted depending on your competencies and experience.

Travel within Greenland and internationally should be expected, subject to agreement.

You will report to the Head of Secretariat and become part of a small, dedicated team.

Qualifications

You do not need to meet every requirement below, but we expect that you can see yourself in most of them:

  • A relevant academic degree – although curiosity and the right experience can also take you far.
  • The ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment with highly varied tasks, ranging from desk-based work to representation in Greenland, Denmark, and internationally.
  • Experience with project work and/or project management.
  • Strong communication skills in Greenlandic, Danish, and English.
  • Knowledge of Arctic research as well as Greenlandic societal and political conditions – or a willingness to learn.

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is engaged and proactive
  • Is structured, process-oriented, and enjoys working with a wide variety of tasks
  • Is creative, curious, and motivated by learning new things
  • Sees themselves as a team player who takes responsibility, even when working independently
  • Is skilled at building and maintaining relationships
  • Has technical understanding and is comfortable using digital tools (in addition to the Microsoft Office suite, we use tools such as Asana, Canva, Podio, and WordPress)
