Film screening and scientific talk during Nuuk International Film Festival 2022
Sep 16, 2022

Join us for a special screening of Ivalo Franks documentary ” Siunissaq – The Last Human” at Pikialaarfik!

We repeat the success from last year with this event during the Nuuk International Film Festival, which connects research and culture.

You are hereby invited to a screening of “Siunissaq – The Last Human” by Ivalo Frank, with subsequent researcher panel discussion, which will take place on:

Friday 16 September from 10am to 12pm at Pikialaarfik Auditorium.

Youth in the shadow of climate change – what does life in Greenland look like in the future?

We delve into the questions raised in the film. A panel of researchers and activists tries to see the world through the eyes of a 17-year-old growing up in Greenland, where climate change is happening at breakneck speed. What does life look like in Greenland when today’s youth turn 50? Will the landscape look completely different then? Will the culture change in step with nature? And, crucially, – if the film is right that life starts and ends here in Greenland – does that make them “the last people” here?

The event begins with a short introduction by film director Ivalo Frank and a film screening lasting 80 minutes.  After the film there is panel discussion about “Youth in the shadow of climate change”.
